Our Mission

At Jolly Frog, we deeply recognise the significance of play in early childhood development. Serving as a crucial and non-threatening tool, play is central to a child’s learning and growth. Through spontaneous and meaningful play, young children explore, communicate, discover, imagine, and create, showcasing their understanding of the world. Play is a foundation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), emphasising its role in children’s social interactions, idea testing, critical thinking, and the construction of new understandings.

Guided by the EYLF, our teachers carefully design learning activities and create stimulating indoor and outdoor environments to facilitate and enhance children’s play. We embrace each child’s uniqueness, acknowledging that they progress at their own pace. The EYLF, a key component of the National Quality Framework established by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG), aims to provide all young children in Australia with opportunities to maximize their potential and establish a foundation for future success.

The EYLF envisions play-based learning that is engaging and fosters success for life, emphasising three key principles:

Belonging: Anchored in meaningful relationships with family, community, culture, and place.

Being: Emphasising the importance of childhood as a unique time for play, exploration, and enjoyment.

Becoming: Focusing on the learning and development that shapes a child’s sense of identity and future adulthood.

Our teachers collaborate with parents to understand each child well, creating a tailored learning program based on their interests and abilities. Through the EYLF’s five learning goals, we help children develop a strong sense of identity, connections with their world, a robust sense of well-being, confidence and involvement in learning, and effective communication skills using literacy and numeracy. We keep parents informed about their child’s progress throughout this transformative journey.

✔ A strong sense of their identity (have confidence in themselves and to form friendships)
✔ Connections with their world (learn to respect the environment and cultural diversity)
✔ A strong sense of wellbeing (socially, emotionally & physically)
✔ Confidence and involvement in their learning (explore, create, learn, experiment)

✔ Effective communication skills (by using literacy and numeracy to communicate)

Why Jolly Frog compared to family daycares?

Childcare has become a necessity for many families, especially when both parents are working.

When it comes to choosing, there are two options: centre-based childcare and family daycare. While both may have their advantages, centre-based childcare has proven to be a better option for a variety of reasons.

Centre- based childcare is more regulated and accountable in terms of safety and health procedures. Centre-based care providers are required to adhere to stringent licensing requirements, background checks and certifications which ensures that children are cared for in a safe and controlled environment.

Family daycares, on the other hand may not be as strictly regulated or monitored and parents may have a harder time knowing if their child is safe or secure.

A child benefits from socialising with other children and learning how to play in a larger group, which prepares them for school and social life. Children in-centre based care learn how to interact with other kids around the same age and follow a structured routine that is appropriate for their age group.

Such exposure is not available with family childcare, as children are only exposed to a small group of kids with varying ages, and thus their interaction with their own peers may be limited, leading to a lack of adequate social development.

Children in centre-based care like Jolly Frog are generally provided with more extensive curriculum, developmental programs, and educational activities that are specifically designed by experienced early childhood educators. The programs are meant to encourage and stimulate the children’s learning abilities, creativity and curiosity, preparing them for the next step in their educational journey. The curriculum and its various activities are structured in such a way that children receive equal opportunities to learn and grow, regardless of their background.

Centre-based childcare offers reliable care, with their fixed schedules, open 5 days a week for an allotted amount of hours, giving parents the flexibility they need for work and other commitments.

On the other end, family daycare is dependent on personal circumstances, which can change at very short notice, leading to inconsistent care availability, which is not practical or convenient for working parents.

While family daycare may be a viable option for some families, centre based childcare like Jolly Frog Kindergarten proves to be a better option for most, offering a safe, structured, stimulating and reliable environment to support children’s growth and development, preparing them for a brigher future.

We strive to give our children the best start in life.

Our quality early learning programmes help children develop the social, emotional, language and cognitive skills they need to be successful at school and in life. We encourage children to discover, learn, experience and above all have fun. Consider giving your child the best start in life with us at Jolly Frog Kindergarten.
