The Early Years Learning Framework
Our educational program at Jolly Frog integrates the latest Early Years Learning Framework mandated by the Federal Government. Drawing from our extensive teaching experience, we incorporate diverse resources and skills to enhance the learning experience. We actively involve parents, encouraging their input and incorporating their suggestions into daily activities. Leveraging children’s emerging skills and knowledge, we extend their learning and instill a sense of pride in their abilities.
Our approach includes teaching children to care for belongings, consider others’ feelings, listen and respond, share, and wait patiently. We utilise various activities, from counting and sorting to pre-reading and pre-writing exercises, cooking, natural science, gardening, art, craft, drama, storytelling, music, dance, and gross motor activities.
Promoting social skills, we encourage children to assist teachers, care for younger peers, fostering social abilities, responsibility, and empathy. Children actively contribute to establishing play rules, ensuring a happy and helpful experience for all. Aligning with the Early Years Learning Framework, we embrace childhood as a time of belonging, being, and becoming. Belonging emphasises relationships with family, community, culture, and place, while being focused on the present, allowing children time to play and explore. Becoming centers on the learning and development shaping a child’s sense of identity for their future adulthood.
We strive to give our children the best start in life.
Our quality early learning programmes help children develop the social, emotional, language and cognitive skills they need to be successful at school and in life. We encourage children to discover, learn, experience and above all have fun. Consider giving your child the best start in life with us at Jolly Frog Kindergarten.
School Transition Program
At Jolly Frog, we pride ourselves on our comprehensive School Transition Program, which plays a pivotal role in guiding preschoolers through essential developmental milestones as they prepare for the significant transition to primary school. Understanding the multifaceted nature of a child’s learning journey, our program emphasises the cultivation of skills across five key areas: Physical, Social, Emotional, Cognitive, and Language.
In recognising that school readiness encompasses more than just traditional academic skills such as reading, writing, and basic math, our approach is holistic. We place a strong emphasis on nurturing the broader spectrum of a child’s capabilities, focusing on:
- Social and Emotional Skills: Our program actively fosters the development of interpersonal skills, cooperation, and emotional intelligence, ensuring that each child can interact effectively and harmoniously with peers and educators.
- Physical Capabilities and Self-Help Skills: We prioritize the enhancement of motor skills and self-help abilities, fostering independence and a sense of personal responsibility.
- Communication and Cognitive Abilities: Through engaging activities and tailored learning experiences, we work towards enhancing each child’s capacity to follow instructions, express their needs effectively, and develop critical thinking skills.
Our School Readiness Program has been thoughtfully designed in collaboration with local schools, child psychologists, and the broader community, in conjunction with the valuable input of our parents. This collaborative approach ensures that our program is not only academically sound but also aligns with the specific needs and expectations of the local educational landscape.
By focusing on these key learning areas, our goal is to provide preschoolers with a well-rounded foundation that goes beyond immediate academic success. We strive to equip each child with the necessary skills and confidence for both short-term and long-term achievements in their educational journey. The School Transition Program at Jolly Frog acts as a bridge, facilitating a seamless transition from preschool to primary school and setting the stage for a lifetime of learning success.
